I don't know if it's applicable but I find white vinegar will cut the odour if you still have cleaning to do.



I have 5 cats, I found one of my good welding gloves soaked just yesterday. Nowhere near the value of the gear you're talking about obviously but I have one cat who just does it where she likes, despite her being the mother of 3 of the other cats here and she is the one who taught them to use a litter tray when they were kittens.
I even put a security camera in a doorway to catch her out peeing on a mat in the house and yet they have several clean litter trays in the house. I spend 60% 0f my day cleaning up after and serving cats.
Sadly some cats just like to do what they want where they want.
