Hi Leon,
Some email systems allow for 'Read Receipts' that will send back a message to say the email has been opened.
However, many people or organisations disable that functionality as it's been well and truly abused by the spammers.
Best bet is to wait a week or two and resend it with a suitable 'In case my previous message got lost..." lead-in.
