Lake Tyrell Sign + SkyGlow

Hey all,

Probably a totally cliched image, but hey, I don't care. I got my image of the giant sign with the galactic core rising like a mutant pine tree into the night sky and I'm happy with it.

The skyglow was terrible that night - all that orange/brown murk was not light pollution but (as near as I can tell) the leftovers from the most recent CME / aurora activity a few days beforehand. (My images from 2 nights later were a lot darker, so that's my theory and I'm sticking to it.)

Visually, it was dark out there. Very dark, like the inside of a cow sort of dark. It was great. If I can find a way to migrate out that way I'm very tempted to do so.

The glow on the horizon is Swan Hill, about a 40-minute or so drive away.

Nikon D7100, whatever lens I had on it - probably the Samyang 14mm - at whatever aperture was wide open.

Cheers,
V
