Hi John,

Congratulations on a beautiful image. The composition is perfect for the thinking man, whatever and the glistening star symbolic of an idea just born.

As for the pesky reflections/artefacts, they could be due to a few things, stray light in to your scope, the 1600mm microlensing artefacts and the filter halo/reflections.

From memory I recall having read that one way to overcome/minimize some of the 1600mm microlensing artefacts was to ensure the exposure was not too close to full well capacity, so perhaps try experimenting with reducing your sub-exposure time, one stop at a time.

As regards stray light, try using a deep dew-shield / hood and/or waiting for a time when the Moon isn't in the way.

The filter may be responsible for some/all of the halo effect / some reflections so ensure that it is correctly fitted and/or experiment with or borrow another for comparison.

Well done on a very thoughtful image

Best
JA
