Astronomy is one of those hobbies where you can pay a lot, a little or make something yourself.
As Jeff mentioned in his reply you can make these, it all depends on what outcome you want. Are you are handy enough, do you have the time and equipment to make them, if so then I would make them (I have access to workshop equipment).
But by the time you spend the 3 hours and have an ok product you sometimes wish you had purchased
but if it comes up trumps then there is the self gratification of I made that
The price seems up there but you get a quality product, nice red that will not rust, beauty is in the eye of the wallet in this hobby. You do not get much for $65 these days, maybe a pack of smokes
