Post New battery technology allows for faster charging and increased durability - UNSW

13th December 2022

Scientists from Yokohama National University and UNSW Sydney have
developed a material that allows solid-state batteries to retain their charging
capacity after many cycles. The electrode material, a lithium titanate and
lithium vanadium dioxide composite, maintains the same volume when fully
charged and discharged, which prevents damage to the battery and allows it
to retain its charging capacity for longer periods. Solid-state batteries are
safer than lithium-ion batteries, which contain liquid electrolytes that can spill
if the battery is punctured, and can also be charged much faster.
