Large Star Spikes

Hello!
I have not imaged for 3 years or so and am slowly getting set up in a new observatory. Some test images with my TEC180/ SX-46 camera reveal some spikes on large stars that I've never seen before. Given that the equipment is virtually the same as 3 years ago I can't make sense of why now? Anyway, the spikes are kind of odd because they look a lot like a focusing mask! For sure, there is no focusing mask in place. Any ideas? I've yet to rotate the camera to note the effect. Next clear night that will happen.

Thanks!
Peter
