Hi Chris, to get to the batteries for the illuminator on the GPD mounts (my old green one at least) you need to take off the Dec axis - 2 socket cap screws at the front. The illuminator then just lifts off - don't drop anything (ask how I know!) it's 2AA batteries. The mount is pretty easy to take apart and regrets and adjust, but there are a few quirks. Just a quick thought on the alignment, if the time and position data has changed the internal battery may be on its way out, might be worth checking the gear ratio in SETUP is still 36 / 144.
