I wonder if a router in the observatory and hardwire each ASIair to the router might be the best way to go? that way you only need to connect to a single wifi network, and it should be pretty seamless switching between devices? you might even be able to open multiple instances of the emulation app and control all 3 at once.
Ontop of that, i've found that the inbuilt station mode on my Air Plus can be quite spotty due to physical interference from the equipment coming between it and my home wifi as the scope slew around.
