“When you’re educating people it’s really important to have that access to the horizon,” he said. “That point where the sun disappears behind the horizon has an almost primal significance to it. Stuff like that really galvanises people’s understanding of what’s going on.”
“I actually do feel that this is an imposition on the whole ethos of the Observatory – what it was built for, the fact that it is one of Sydney’s premier science outreach institutions,” he said. “You are taking something away that is a very public phenomenon – the ability to watch the sunset.”
