Last night I saw a brilliant white meteor with a very long trail moving quite slowly from the South East in direct line moving away from Canopus towards the North West. It lasted only a few seconds then disappeared.
What a sight !!
I guess you just have to be lucky and looking in the right place at the right time
Not sure if it was an Orionid
