Hey Leon,
First question is "What other programs are running?". Open up TaskManager and see if anything is chewing up RAM and/or CPU and see if you can kill it.
Easiest way to open TaskManager is to hit Ctrl-Alt-Del and select 'Open Task Manager'. Make sure you pin it to the task bar so you can get to it quicker the next time you need it.
I'm not a Windows guru, so I'm not certain if TaskManager will let you see any threads or sub-processes running inside the parent Edge process. I have had cases where a browser's sub-process has been chewing CPU and I've had to kill it (without killing the browser) to calm things down.
