Saturn April 12th 2022

Hi All,

Imaged Saturn April 12th in quite reasonable seeing which provided the best data I have captured thus far this apparition.

All wavelengths other than CH4 resolve a ripple in the EZ impinging up into the NEB at approx Lat+14.5 L1 286.2 if the data was slightly better I believe a series of ripples would be resolved. The 685nm IR data also resolves a large diffuse dark spot in the EZ at approx Lat+7.7 L1 273.5. Of great interest the IR data also resolves a bright concentrated elongated feature in the Southern Hemisphere peeking out from under the edge of the ring shadow at approx Lat-31.4 L3 285 with another fainter bright spot below at approx Lat-47.8 L3 282.7.
The R channel data also resolves a diffuse bright spot in the EZ at approx Lat+6.8 L1 267.6.
The G channel resolves two diffuse bright spots at approx Lat+29 L3 328.2 and Lat+31.1 L3 301.7
The RGB resolves the EZ ripple, the EZ bright spot seen in the R data along with the two mid latitude bright spots seen in the G data.
The B channel data resolves the EZ ripple.

The 685nm IR animation nicely shows the movement of the EZ ripple, EZ dark spot and both Southern Hemisphere bright spots
The R channel animation nicely shows the movement of the EZ ripple and EZ bright spot.
Note; All data from this session has been uploaded to PVOL.
