Thanks for all the replies everyone, very helpful
several different approaches possible it would seem? I think I will try a wireless approach first
and see how that goes, if it proves problematic, I will consider the time, effort and expense, of digging a 60m+ trench (through lots of rock!!) and laying cable
So if there are any more suggestions of what reliable wireless hardware to use, that would be welcomed
