You should check it out before dismissing it because boy you dismissed it very quickly!

The controller has fantastic reviews from people who use it, with some severe disabilities as well. Definitely people without the proper use of limbs that use it. It's programmable so you can configure it to do anything. I've even seen people gaming with their feet on it.
As for affording, well I don't know your financial situation, sorry.
