Your guiding numbers align with pretty much what most folk achieve straight out of the box with both the EQ8 and EQ8-R
My existing EQ6-R carrying 15kg use to guide around 0.70 to 0.80 on most nights over the past 3 years, then a couple of months ago I re orientated my Newt with camera facing down , adjusted both worm gears and adjusted drive belts to minimise backlash , re balanced and it now guides between 0.60 to 0.70
If my new EQ8-R guides 0.50 or lower out of the box then I’ll be stoked as I know I could spend some time to improve it. It will be carrying a 10” f5 CF newt , so just less than 20kg.
Only another 3 months to wait for it ......
