How’s the backlash on your EQ8 as I have a new EQ8-R pro arriving in June ( so far most folk say it’s pretty tame and doesn’t cause to much of an issue. I’m assuming you have the older version ? )

The EQ8 has been a very good mount for me.
Backlash is significant in my example on the DEC axis & virtually non existent in RA.
Its manageable though with a slight imbalance in DEC.

I do have the older version; in fact I think it came out with the first shipment of these mounts when they were released.

I use an OAG when imaging & with an ASI290 guidecam I'm sampling at about 0.2"/pixel on my RC14. So far it has behaved very well. Attached is a guide graph from last night, Typically, on nights of average seeing, I get about 0.3-0.5" RMS guiding.
