I've been running off generators at night for years. The noise tends to fade away into background noise. I have reasonably quiet generators. Was using a Yamaha but got pretty cheap but sophisticated generators from Bunnings. A Chinese one that looks like a copy of a more expensive generator. 3.5kva and it cost something like $300!
