Coincidentally, I did a tour of Puppis the night before. The constellation has a wonderful range of open clusters, including of course, M46, 47 and 93. I always re-visit the star Asmidiske when visiting Puppis for the neat curved asterism formed by 4 equally spaced stars. The double star Sigma Puppis is also a pretty sight.
I am glad you visited Gamma Volantis. It is one of my favourite doubles.

Hi Steve. I agree Asmidiske is beautiful with its curve of stars! I was looking at it too last night, set in a beautiful field. It's fascinating how the stars in the curve get brighter until you get to Asmidiske. Cheers
