All good suggestions, Raymo i suspect there is no power to the unit as there is suppose to be a light on the unit when it is switched on.
Yes it is hard wired however thank you for your suggestions i will work with them and see how it goes.
I do think it actually maybe the remote, as i said earlier it was pretty ordinary in the battery compartment, and after a good clean it did turn on (the remote that is) but may not be sending a signal to the unit, don't know, will investigate though.
