I fear it all sounds a bit like the early IPCC, while ever there is no real (ie effective) action enforced or limitations placed, on satellite deployment strategies, SATCON and its supporters will probably be paid platitudes and token crocodile concern may be shown for a while but little that is genuinely significant will actually be done to mitigate the predicted long term general damage, let alone the possibility of the catastrophic Kessler syndrome. Then, eventually, if any real regulation looks imminent, well SATCON et al will start to be demonised and labelled alarmist and corrupt etc. Once enough people start relying on the satellite constellations to bring them their Internet connection, these labels will become convenient scape goats for people to comfortably ignore the whole concern, then we have absolutely no hope.

To add to our effects on the climate and the volume of plastics in our oceans and destruction of rain forests etc, sigh, we have yet another anthropogenic smear on the environment.

Very sad...
