Indeed, for some targets (like this one), you don't lose too much going with an OSC.
That said, I'd be keen to see how much Ha you pick up on your unmodded DSLRs. The curtain behind the Horsehead might not show up as much, so you'd need a lot more integration time to bring it through on such a camera.
