You can convert any TV to a smart TV with Amazon Fire TV. Cheapest one works fine unless you want volume control or 4K. (You can always use volume control on your TV remote).
The Lite version was $35 and the 4K version was $59 (sales) recently. Wait for the next sale if you prefer.
There are other devices on the market but the Amazon one has no subscription to the basic Apps (YouTube included). If you want basic subscription to some movies, music, free delivery for purchases it is $6.99/month with first month free but this is not required to use the Fire TV. We have three in the house for older TVs (some older smart but no longer support the YouTube app which Fire TV fixed).
