A long range Tesla model 3 will give you 560km of real world range (Tesla's quoted 640km range is fanciful at best) but at $A80k is beyond many budgets.
Most major manufacturers (including GM) are going down the EV path, and given Australia no longer manufactures cars (or much else) ICE cars will be the exception rather than the rule.
Batteries and their energy densities continue to improve, and the prices are falling...hence all of the above will be moot in five years.
