Private companies will probably get humans back to the moon before government departments like NASA
Artemis was pretty much dead in the water 2 years ago when required funding was limited by Congress due to other pressing issues facing the US
Bridenstine pushed as hard as he could but funding and public interest in Artemis waivered during the later part of Trumps presidency and from current media opinions is still waivering.
Regarding the US space program in the 60’s , many said if it wasn’t for the Apollo 1 tragedy , we probably wouldn’t have reached the moon until the 70’s ( if at all )
Apollo 7’s earth orbital test flight using only a Saturn 1B and a brand new CSM to Apollo 11’s landing only took 9 months to accomplish, which is absolutely astonishing by today’s standards.
Space X is the front runner at the moment for the Moon but even they have their issues , mainly time.
2024 to the Moon looks like a pipe dream at present. But who knows it has been done before a long long time ago , 9 times and 6 landings
