I took this a few days ago from a location just over 50km north of Melbourne's CBD. It was still very low in the sky so not much chance of capturing the detail northerners can get from it but at least you can see the dust lanes. It was taken with Canon 550d using a 45 year old Pentax 300mm lens at f8 to reduce some of the aberrations so evident when the aperture is wide open on these older lenses. There's still some coma and CA but not too bad, especially for a wide field shot. I took just over an hour of data, unguided on a HEQ5 mount, which is about all you get as it hovers over the horizon.
