The selling fees are quite horrendous on ebay i.e. recently sold a camera lens for $2500 plus $25 postage. The fees were a flat 13.4% of the selling price plus postage so 13.4% of $2525 was $338.35. Out of the $2525 I was paid $2161.65, received the money in my bank account within a couple of days. Of course there were few times when I got a lot more for an item than I was expecting, like all auctions there are good and bad days, luck of the game.
You have to wonder if I could have got $2500 for my camera lens on Gumtree, Trading Post, local paper or even IIS.
