Mark,
I only record the imaging session captured data ( not the specific imaging event ) All my imaging session data is transferred from my imaging / capture Laptop to my main PC ( backed up ) in the following main folders then a sub folder for name of object ( eg: NGC 1365 Great Barred Spiral Galaxy ) then a sub folder with date/year captured and I use the same date for processing
Deep Sky Object Imaging
Light frames
Dark frames
Bias frames
Flat frames
Dark Flat frames
Stacked Images (Deep Sky Stacker)
Processed Images ( Startools)
Planetary Imaging
Moon video
Jupiter video
Saturn video
Mars video
Stacked Images ( Autostakkert 3 ) Moon, Jupiter, Saturn, Mars
Processed Images ( Registax 6 ) Moon , Jupiter, Saturn, Mars
My stacked DSO image file would be identified as follows -
Example: Object Name say NGC 1365 Great Barred Spiral Galaxy / Location / Exposure time / Calibration frame used / Filter or no filter used / Gain setting
My stacked Planetary image file just has Object name / location / ISO setting / exposure
Moon image files have 2 folders ( Whole Planet and Surface )
I have 2 observing locations so I just abbreviate the names for each site on each file
Probably sounds a bit complicated but it’s very quick to navigate , sort and process
Cheers
Martin
