As an alternate, try The Herschels and Modern Astronomy by Agnes M. Clerke. It was published in 1901. It is a thorough and well documented work dealing with the Herschels father, sister and son. Worth a read and now out of copyright. I found my copy in Project Gutenberg. Just checked and it popped up in a search on the author’s name.
