Alex, sorry to hear about your storm damage. I have two words for you: Track Locks. All roll off or sliding observatory roofs should have track locks. These are to prevent the roof from being forced open. In addition roof tie downs must also be used, to prevent lift off. I have both track locks and tie downs on my roof. Do not rely on captive wheels for rollers, running in C channel to prevent lift off. Tie downs can be turn buckle style, chain stays, even rated straps. It only takes a few minutes to release the hold downs and track locks, or to reapply them when you shut the observatory. I admit sometimes I just secure a single tie down on closure near dawn on a calm night. However, in storm type weather, I check every lock and tie down.
