Sounds like a drone to me. At night, you really can't judge their altitude, and relatively speaking they travel fast.
I observed on once filming a Canberra festival at night - fireworks too - you could easily convince yourself it was something else and looked to be at around 20,000 ft whereas it was likely 200 ft if that. There was a steady blue light one too further away.
