My favourite ride, when a younger man, was from Canberra to Rockhampton in Queensland. I did this on a Honda CB750F2C with panniers and full fairing.
It was a beautiful ride, especially passing through the NSW/QLD border. I saw lightning play out in the sky while riding, and I felt young and bulletproof.
Ah well, now I make do with a Hayabusa 1300, so I still have some life left in me
