On mine to help with the signal I used all of the RGB data and combined it with the Luminance data to create a Super Luminance frame. It becomes more forgiving when it comes down to the noise in the lower signal areas. I am then able to give the RGB layer a linear noise correction before doing a non-linear noise reduction....it seems to work well enough.

That's a good idea. I'll give it a go. I'm after making a 3 panel mosaic of the blue horse head as well as we had a total lunar eclipse not so long ago and I need a color background for my composite. But that one is too faint to shoot from home and I'll need to drive to dark skies. We're in lock down right now confined to a 5km radius so maybe next year.
