Ok I have a CGX, since late 2016, and have tried a few things like this. The PWI software does have some nice features, and the Sky Modelling works well, however I found the more stars I added the more random the error in precision became. Now I do not use Starsense, let me be clear about that, but I still prefer the good old hand controller that comes with the mount. I think the last time I aligned it was probably three years ago. You see it sits on a good pier in my observatory, and I took great care in initial SCP alignment on installation. So i did a good three star alignment, making sure the time was absolute correct, and then added a few calibration stars from different quadrants to create a six star sky model. Now years later, and many nights of use, it still is spot on target, provided the time is correct.
Use what works and is trustworthy over time.
