Hi Leon,
As an alternative to the toothpaste idea, may I suggest a slightly, well, much better option?

To polish any scratches out of any type of glass or whatever,
do a search for "CERIUM OXIDE."

It's a much, much finer "cutter & polisher" than toothpaste.

It's what the windscreen replacement Co's. use.

It's available on eBay as well.
I bought a 500 gm pack a few months ago & it ain't that expensive.

Mix it with water to the consistency of BRASSO & apply parallel to the scratches...if possible. Use an old cotton T-Shirt.
Keep it wet, coz it will dry out in use.
Wash thoroughly in water & dry with a microfibre cloth.....only from 1 side to the other. Never as I mentioned, round 'n' round.

PTN: SILVO is also much finer than BRASSO.
