May be a fault on your DSL modem, your line or a host of other variables. Check your lappy for spyware etc and disable anything that starts up automatically such as skype etc, then try reconnecting the wireless. I've seen laptop/wireless combinations bring the router and modem down because an app is hammering the IP connection trying to get out before the wireless has properly established it's connection.
