Well I went to bintel melbourne today fr a look at the telescopes to see what I might get later on an ended up leving with a 12" lightbridge deluxe!
I have checked the collimation and it seems pretty good, so then I thought I would align the finder and then I ran into problems. I can't focus the eyepieces. It comes with a meade 4000 26mm QX and I also bought a 20mm bintel SV eyepiece and a barlow.
I bring the focuser out as far as it goes and I have fiddled with the focus lock screws to get it coming out as far as I can but neither eyepiece will focus. To get the 26mm to focus I have to pull it out of the focuser (at max distance) and it comes into focus when there is about an inch of clear air between them. The 20mm will focus with about 1/2 and inch of space between it and the focuser.
I tried using the barlow but I still couldn't get the eyeieces to focus.
Any suggestions, the sky here actually looks like it might be a clear night.
