Out of interest here's a new sensor development from Canon:
An APS-H sized 250 MegaPixel sensor (19,568 x 12,588 pixels of 1.5µm size). It's capable 5 fps at max resolution and lesser resolution video at 8K, 4K etc... Mostly geared to industrial, inspection, medical, science and security applications. Interestingly it's available in colour & monochrome versions. It's NOT coming to a camera near you, but may herald some technology spinoffs and/or new science/tech. See video & articles below.
