FYI, I purchased the 8Ah version at Repco - its on sale for $99 - so that seemed a good deal.
Upon opening the box at home, I really like the device - about 3/4 the size of a brick, plus there's a handle on top.
I've tested it at home by re-purposing the cable from an old charger and clamping the wires. Everything seems to run fine, controller seems good, and I can slew both axis at the same time. I'll let it run for a few hours and watch the results.
Repco sell spare connectors for the unit, so i bought a pack and will properly solder them up tonight.
