They most certainly can John. Coulter used to sell Sonotube Dobs of
13" 17.5" and 29" back in the day,[about 30-35 yrs ago.] If I remember rightly the 29" was US$2,900.I used my friend's 17.5" many times, great scope. 800x on the moon was awesome when the seeing was good.
