I would have been gathering ionised sulphur and oxygen photons as I write, but the full moon is a little too close to my quarry just now.

That niggle I first mentioned is indeed causing the "snowmen"...the culprit looks to be software induced random spikes in Dec.. Least I think so.....proving hard to nail down as the excursions are +/- 1 pixel (0.4 arc sec at 2800mm)....well below my usual seeing of 2-3 arc sec. Frosty's head disappears as the seeing degrades...hence tracking down the cause is proving to be a challenge

I might put it down to global warming
