Rules from Skywatcher for choosing alignment stars:

1. Same side of meridian (N S line)

2. Altitude difference: Between 15 and 60 degrees - aim for about 30

3.Azimuth difference of 45 to 135 degrees - Closer to 90 degrees is best.

4. approach the second alignment star using the same approach as a normal goto (I think Right and Up is default but it is modifiable)
