SH2-16. Spot the Ball

I have been scouring the h alpha overlay in safari pro to find a few more interesting areas to image and tripped over this.

In the in the image is SH2-16 and within is the open cluster Collinder 347

Somewhat more interestingly is that Sagittarius A happens to be in the frame as well. In true spot the ball style, see if you can find it. Mike had it nailed a few years ago with GlenC and I figured it out.

Being in the centre of the galaxy of course there are far too many stars. The RGB version is pants, worse still because of some pretty poor seeing on the day.

So this is HaRGHaB which has the added benefit of reducing the star impact.

More data needed so fingers crossed later this week.

In astrobin I also uploaded an image from astronomy net to put it in context.

SH2-16, close to centre of our Galaxy

Cheers
