Ron,
I use an ASI 1600 (because of the chip size and the small pixel), I also use an ASI 174 for longer focal lengths.
Capture the images as an SER/AVI in FireCapture, then process to a TIFF image in AS3!.
That's the basics.
If you want to tweak and enhance the images then Registax6 or ImPPG.
Start with the basics then move forward.
