The night before last was about as perfect as it gets here in the states for me. While the Moon was about 30 degrees up, it was a gorgeous muted orange - almost full of course but very easy on the eyes. I don't think I've ever picked out so much detail or spent as long looking at it with my binocs (12x) before. No washout effect from brightness and it seemed like you could stare at it for hours!
