Ic 2944
Last night was the first time I'd photographed this nebula. Didn't think it looked much like a chicken until I realised there's so much more to it outside my field of view. I guess I'd need a focal length of about 400mm to get it all in on my Canon 550d.
I shot this through Bortle 6 skies using a CLS ccd filter on the modded DSLR.
My intervalometer broke so I was restricted to using the camera's native 30sec exposure. No need for guiding at least but I did manually dither to reduce some of the noise. The stars are a tad soft because I ran this one through without rechecking the focus. I think I may add some RGB to this another time as it looks more like a duotone. A little too saturated maybe? 37x30secs @3200iso, Esprit 100.
