Me too.

I have fond memories of "cracker night" when I was a kid in the 1960's and a huge bonfire in the back yard.

As a kid that was easily my favourite day of the year. We always had an adult letting off the fireworks in a safe manner, with a long touch wick in a sand pit. We would have 2 hoses and a several buckets of water close at hand, if needed. We never ever needed the water, but it was close if we did. Unfortunately, not everyone exercised the same common sense and caution and there were many serious injuries ultimately resulting in fireworks being banned to the general public. Again the few idiots spoil things for the majority.
