I think I might make a cover that can be left on during observing to keep the dew etc off the brass

I did eyeball this when it went up in the classifieds, would have been easy for me to make the 30 minute drive. I didn't research or appreciate the significance of this particular brass refractor until you posted a bit more information about it and as much as I considered it, funds wouldn't allow.
I felt the focal ratio was a nice progression for me though, F/9 to F/12 and then to F/15

Colin, I had previously spoken with Julian about this scope and knew its history so when I saw the ad I was on the phone to him and in the car 15 minutes later.
Whilst I wouldn't wish it upon you, I am glad you didn't have the spare cash then.....
