We had a Dyson DC35, which was entry level at the time. It was gutless compared to what we were used to, and the battery couldn't get us through the house on a wooden floor.

As said, DC35 was bottom of the pile. I'm sure the V6, 8, 11, etc deliver as reported by their happy owners. I guess I'm saying, don't buy the entry level just because it's Dyson.

We then bought a Henry commercial vac, which is very powerful, but unexplainably quiet.

I guess after a certain price point, you can't go too wrong. For us, that price was $400.
