Just an example: On Monday night I did the usual - went home, showered. Then I realised I needed to wash the car (for hail damage assessment the next day). So I changed into shorts and t-shirt, hopped in the car and drove to the car wash. I was exposed to smoke for no more than 2 minutes, but when I got home my clothes and hair stank of smoke and I needed another shower!
